The very first time I ran a search and clicked on a result, the page that popped up was full of nasty spyware. It wasn't even a "dodgy" search term. I tried it a few more times and am 100% convinced that it's not in the same league as Google... hell, even Yahoo and MSN are better.

Re: Why There Won’t Be a Google Killer

that what we used to say about yahoo or about myspace before facebook

i think cuil should buy lots adwords from google to more traffic lol

Re: Why There Won’t Be a Google Killer

Google has certainly created a monopoly of sorts and will remain at the top for a very long time.. it's inevitable. I also believe that after searching for several things on Cuil - they released it a bit too soon..the results are mostly less than desirable.

Re: Why There Won’t Be a Google Killer

That's a good point, but I think the problem -- if this should happen -- would be in judging those search results. How would you know search results for x on Google are better than the results on GoogleKiller? And if you do happen to make up your mind on the other one, how long would it take for you to completely switch your habits, or would you come crawling back a week later? I'm not completely convinced that people would let go off Google so easily.

Re: Why There Won’t Be a Google Killer

For me, it's all about the search results. If a search engine gives me markedly better search results for every query, I'll happily use it instead of Google. Not until then, though. I don't care if it has cover flow results, columnar results, or holographic results; it's all a question of utility, and results equal utility.

Re: Why There Won’t Be a Google Killer

There is no profitable scope in search engine market. Is saturated, Google remains the king and will be there for a lot of time...

But still, in future, when more people will get online, all they want is services that respond to them in real time. Like example - Twitter. I know a lot of people who trust Twitter for their updates. A lot of people get breaking news on their mobil using Twitter. They dont rely 100 % on mechanical algorithm based search engine to give them results they want. In fast paced world, a search engine is fine, but slowly and surely, it will give way to services that provide real time access to information content. My bet is on them..
