Cause who is to say that by offering their API out will limit them to just blogs, perhaps this will open up waves of opportunity to grow while intensedebate will be limited to wordpress

I love to see how Daniel and Gang conquer the Blog commenting with the release of their API. The whole idea about Disqus is to create a commenting network and in order to do so, sticking to wordpress is just not going to cut it.

That is straightforward to do wordpress's built-in commenting system, since the comments are in my database. But with disqus, not so much.

I'm glad to see disqus offering an API. This will open their commenting system up to other software platforms. been using disqus for several months and the disqus team has continued to create and release significant improvements based on user feedback. I have to say that I'm impressed so far.
